Attention Visitors


The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are open with limited services. Residents should only use the Gardens are those that they can walk, run or cycle (bikes are not permitted in the gardens but bike parking is available at the Main and Lower Gates) to, or if this is not possible, can drive to within 30 kilometres of their place of residence.

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is Australia’s cool climate garden, with a number of unique collections including Australia’s only Subantarctic Plant House. With a total of 14 hectares to explore, visitors can take time to relax and explore or tailor a walk based on personal interest.

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens encourages visitors to explore the Gardens and appreciate the significance of these collections. There are a number of tour options available, from self-guided to guided tours. Ask at the Visitors Centre shop, at the front entrance HUB, or find out more below.

Great coffee, locally produced Valhalla ice-cream and takeaway snacks are available for visitors to enjoy on the outdoor deck seating or as you wander through the Gardens.
